So I was just dreaming about Starcraft 2 today and I got to thinking about all the millions of lives this game is going to change. There are millions of mostly boys age 10 to 30 who are going to be playing this game within a few month, many who never played the original Starcraft. Many more that have no experience playing old school strategy games like chess and card games. This game is going to change how they think about player vs player combat forever, it will even change the way they think about how to compete in this ever changing globally competitive business world.
Probably hundreds of thousands of people who played World of Warcraft will also play it because they like Blizzard games. And of course just about everyone who played Warcraft 3 will be playing SC2.
What part of the world do you think will have the best players? Will it be the United States, Europe, or Asia? I am betting on the United States since it has a mix of people from all parts of the world and I am from the United States so I am biased. South Korea has probably the best Starcraft 1 players at the moment, but I bet if Americans played SC as much as the Koreans they would be just as good. There were some really good American Warcraft 3 players like Grubby and Tillerman (though maybe Tillerman was from Europe). Who knows, only time will tell. All I know is, I can’t wait!
