So, its only 4 more days until 2010 and a new decade. Ten years ago it was the end of 1999 and the world was scared that all the computers were going to glitch out, airplanes were going to fall from the sky, and possibly the world was going to end. Well, the world didn’t end, but a lot of bad things have happened, and now a lot of people think that the world is going to end in 2012 according to the Mayan calendar.
Lets look at some of the bad things that have happened since the end of 1999. First, in 2001 America was struck by the most devastating terrorist attack to date. That caused us to start a couple of wars in the Middle East, which are still going on and have cost thousands of American, Europeans, and Middle Easterners their lives.
Second, America’s economy is in very bad shape at the end of 2009. We are in over 10 trillion dollars in debt, our unemployment rate is over 10%, and millions of people are losing their homes to foreclosure. The world is starting to feel the effects of overpopulation, and our population has never been growing at a faster rate with no sign of slowing in sight.
And worst of all, still no Starcraft 2 beta! 
It should be soon though.
As to the good things that have happened since the end of 2009? I can’t think of anything that outweighs the aforementioned bad things, but the internet has come a long way and has done a good job of connecting the world.
Here’s to a good second decade of the two thousands.
