Zerg Units

The Zerg are a race of aliens that infest other organisms and integrate them into their Zerg Swarm. The Zerg then evolve the organisms they infest into deadly killers which they use to further infest other organisms in their continual struggle for complete domination of the universe and all life. The Zerg especially want to take over the Terran and Protoss races in order to gain the use of their advanced technologies.

Zerg buildings are actually living organs that make up the Zerg nest. The Zerg live on what is known as “Creep”, which provides them with the ideal living environment, and they continually expand their Creep zone wherever they go. They are arguably the ugliest race in Starcraft, both physically and mentally.

The Zerg is controlled by the Overmind, which acts as the brain of the super organism that is the Zerg. Under that mind are a hand full of General like Cerebrates which control the Overlords. The Overlords directly control the infested creatures and command them in battle.

When the Zerg captured Sarah Kerrigan, the Overmind evolved her into the Queen of Blades. During the Invasion of Aiur the Protoss destroyed the Overmind, Kerrigan convinced the Protoss dark templar to destroy the remaining Cerebrates, and she gained control of the remaining Zerg Swarm.
